this is my favorite show, because this is my show

I don’t know what happened last weekend or why I didn’t post any fan art. I think I was obsessed with L4D2 and was using all my drawing time to sketch stuff out for a new comic I’ve been tossing around the old noggin. Oh well, you forgive me right!?

Of course you do. And that’s why I’m moving on to what I did this week… although there’s not much of it, I spent way too much time on what you will see. So just act impressed even though you aren’t. It’ll make me feel better.

My Wii Killed Itself
By: Mark Davis | April 26th, 2010

Right when games I want to play are finally coming out for the Wii, it dies on me.

In the middle of some Monster Hunter Tri with Timnuts and Kevin, it just stopped reading discs. Wii discs, Gamecube discs, magical discs full of miracles, everything. That’s not what even pissed me off the most, it’s that the “repair” service costs EIGHTY FIVE DOLLARS. That’s pretty much half of what it costs to get a brand new Wii off the fucking shelf.

“Hmmm… I feel like I’m forgetting something. Oh yeah! Fan art friday! On, uh, Saturday… again. Whoops.”

Sorry that I almost forgot about posting this week’s art here… not because I hate you or didn’t do any, I just have been busy and kinda under the weather lately. That also means I didn’t get as much done as I wanted, but oh well… I got two this week and one left over from last week I didn’t post for some reason.

I’d like to name this endeavor “Fan Art Friday” but it seems like I’ll never get that chance since I’ve posted it on Saturday for two weeks in a row. Not a great start for that friday trend I’m hoping for… but maybe I’ll get my act together next week.

And, although it’s a little bit later than planned, I do have some more delicious fan-art for ya this week. I started a few other game characters but only got a Link piece finished in that department. I did, however, get some cartoon stuff done! You’ll recognize them from Cartoon Network (unless you don’t watch kids shows) and if you know me very well at all, you know I’m kinda obsessed with both shows.

Enough jibber jabber though. Let’s get to it…

Oh, looky! Amazon has a sale on Deadly Premonition right now… it’s just $15 instead of $20. At either price it’s a freaking steal though. So I would click away and get that game shipped your way asap.

Some Nintendo Fan Arts!
By: Mark Davis | April 3rd, 2010

I’ve been meaning to use this blog a for a lot of things, but I never seem to finish the stuff I start writing. So… to help get content on here, and to encourage the rest of you to use these for original work and not just game rants/news, I’ll be posting videogame Fan Art on a weekly basis.

To kick it off, I went with some classic NES games today, and as somewhat of a coincidence, they all start with the same letter: Mario, MegaMan, and MetaKnight.

M just seems to be a dang good letter for games and names. Anyway, scroll on below to check them out.

With a recent kerfuffle over the fifteen dollar entry fee for an indie-game, VVVVVV, I found myself wondering how we, as gamers, justify complaining about giving a hard-working indie developer a mere fifteen bucks when most of us have probably spent that on forgettable DLC a few times over, drop a Grant & Hamilton on new releases without thinking, and didn’t have any problems coughing up the same fifteen smackers for Braid. But my concern for this goes much further than just supporting an indie-developer who has given us eight other amazing games for free, and, upon playing VVVVVV, obviously has a right to ask for some cash on his most recent (and much more robust) title. No, this permeates the very realm of digital delivery and has made me begin questioning the very core of the digital content movement.
